ME TOO! “If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote ‘Me too.’ as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem.”
My story: #metoo from age 5-11. I was the girl who was called and accused of being “fast” before any of those who inflicted harm on me, stole my innocence and exposed me to a very adult world WAY too soon were ever accused of being the sick pedophiles that they were/are. Some were my heroes who I loved, trusted and looked up to, so they had to be right about me … right? So I hid, like so many do. I adopted and wore many masks to cover up the ugly truths, the shame and guilt that I felt as that little girl who lost her voice and my shell became the very comfortable and familiar place that I called home for most of my life.
I know I’ve helped many people heal while being completely broken myself. When the masks I wore became too painful to wear, I had no choice but to do a deep dive into all that needed healing in my own life … this was one of the most painful areas I had to face, recall and explore. After finally working through some of the most incredulous memories, writing about them and sometimes even crawling towards my healing … I stand before you a transformed woman. Not perfect, but beautifully flawed and yes, there’s work yet to do.
Pain has shaped this woman into a warrior! Here I am living, motivating and inspiring despite it all. My faith is simply on a different level. When God heals and restores, He brings you out better than you were before.
If it hurts, it can heal. Tell your story and free yourself. “Un-Masked, Un-Broken, Healed & Set Free” © 2017
